Yorkshire Water splash
--
Width: 39.8cm Height: 29cm Watercolour painting
The intro for the first James Herriot TV series of “All Creatures Great and Small” featured a car being driven through a ford on the North Yorkshire Moors. With a bit of investigation I was able to locate the ford and if you drive from Langthwaite towards Low Row you will come to the ford. I made a point on one of my holidays to Yorkshire to visit this location and take a photo.
The painting taken from the photo shows the heather in full colour on the distant moor and the prospect of a change in the weather with the darkening clouds.
The painting gave me a chance to use a lot of wet on wet painting technique and masking fluid for the foot bridge over the ford.
My signature is located on the front lower right hand corner of the painting.
